Field Service Technician

Location: Edmonton, AB Canada

Schedule: Rotational, 14 days on / 7 days off; operates 24/7 year-round

Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport, deliver, and verify tools and equipment at remote job sites.
  • Supervise and actively assist in downhole completion system installations alongside rig crews and client representatives.
  • Complete accurate job documentation using Windows-based software; ensure records are thorough and timely.
  • Coordinate loading of tools, oversee material verification, and prepare equipment prior to departure.
  • Lead and support safety awareness: conduct safety meetings, complete JSA forms, and facilitate technical documentation.
  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to rig personnel and clients regarding tool functionality and procedures.
  • Maintain continuous, clear communication with the Edmonton operations team and shop throughout each project.
  • Proactively identify site issues, offer recommendations for improvement, and report feedback to the Coordinator.
  • Comply strictly with Import Tool’s and client HSE protocols.
  • Exemplify professionalism, technical expertise, and leadership in every client interaction.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary technical/trade education preferred.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on oilfield or drilling industry experience, ideally with exposure to hydraulic systems and downhole tool installation.
  • Strong working knowledge of hydraulic principles, pressure calculations, and mechanical operations.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean driver’s abstract.​
  • Physical capability and willingness to travel extensively and work in remote locations and demanding conditions.​
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in teams, demonstrating adaptability and resilience in challenging environments.
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid computer proficiency for reporting and documentation tasks.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and strict compliance with HSE best practices.

 

Required Certifications (Must Have or Willing to Obtain):

  • H2S Alive.
  • First Aid & CPR.
  • WHMIS (GHS).
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG)
  • Fall Protection
  • Forklift & Overhead Crane certification
  • Advanced Driver Training
  • BSO/EGSO
  • Baker Hydraulic Training
