Stage tools allow the operator to cement targeted zones within the wellbore during casing or liner installation. By cementing certain sections of the well, stage tools prevent lost circulation into the formation by lowering the total hydrostatic pressure exerted on weak zones. Stage tools are often paired with an annular casing packer beneath which provides a positive barrier for the cement column pumped above.
The Mechanical design features opening and closing sleeves that are mechanically sheared with a positive sealing free-fall opening device and pump down plug.
The Hydraulic system is designed for horizontal applications and features a differential piston opening sleeve which can be functioned with applied pressure from surface.
