The Drift Sub checks and verifies the drift inside diameter (ID) of casing, while running drill pipe into the well. The machined outside diameter (OD) of the gauge sleeve matches the API or special drift size of the casing. The gauge sleeve freely rotates on the body and remains static when the drill pipe is rotated, preventing wear or damage to the ID of the casing.
The Drift Sub can also be supplied with a customer specified OD to verify that a packer or other large diameter tool can be run safely. If required, two or more subs can be run together to create a longer drift, simulating the running of a longer packer or other tool.
• One-piece body with box-up and pin-down drill pipe connections
• Gauge sleeve rotates freely on the body and remains static when the drill pipe is rotated
• Customer specified OD available to simulate packer or tool size
• No bolts, threaded-on rings, clamps or welding are used in the construction of the tool
• Tool OD ranges from 4.500 - 11.750 in. (114.3 – 298.5 mm)
• Detachable ball race with gas nitride raceway
